Why, a Massachusetts
grown apple, of course! We at Tougas Family Farm invite your class
to join us this fall for an informative, hands-on educational
experience learning about local agriculture. Tougas Family Farm,
a family owned and managed farm, has been in the forefront of
area growers in using new production techniques, such as dwarf
apple tree plantings, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). During
your trip to the orchard, you and your students will learn more
about our IPM program ("the Bug Talk") from our Farmer Guides,
as well as enjoy a wagon ride and apple picking in the orchard.
Your group will be picking apples from our dwarf apple trees.
These apples are of the highest quality grown in the world, and
the apples are always within easy reach of the children. The children
pick enough to fill a small bag (1/4 peck) and also pick an apple
to eat while in the orchard. Also included is a sticker, and a
coloring book for each child. School Tours are available Tuesdays - Fridays, September 14 - October 22; between 9 am and 1:30 pm, with booking times every 15 minutes. Please allow adequate driving time, as well as time for restrooms and check in once arrived when planning your tour start time.
APPLE TOUR Prices: $5.00 per person, ($75 minimum) including students, chaperones, and siblings. One free teacher trip for a paid staff teacher for every 10 students.
